We are seeking a highly skilled Architectural Associate with strong technical production and detailing expertise to support architectural projects from concept development through construction. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in design development, construction documentation, technical detailing, and project coordination, with a deep understanding of building systems, constructability, and architectural best practices
This role is heavily focused on technical execution and documentation. While presentation and visualization skills are valued, the primary emphasis is on producing accurate, coordinated, and buildable drawing sets that support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Production & Documentation
- Develop comprehensive architectural drawing packages from schematic design through construction documentation.
- Produce detailed plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and architectural details.
- Create and maintain high-quality construction documents that meet project requirements, building codes, and industry standards.
- Ensure drawing accuracy, consistency, and coordination across all project phases.
Design Development
- Support the advancement of projects from conceptual and schematic design into fully developed design solutions.
- Translate design intent into technically sound and constructible architectural documentation.
- Collaborate with project teams to resolve design and technical challenges during project development.
Architectural Detailing
- Develop architectural details for building envelope systems, wall assemblies, roofing systems, waterproofing, interior assemblies, and specialty conditions.
- Prepare technical solutions that address constructability, code compliance, durability, and performance requirements.
- Review and refine details to ensure coordination with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Drawing Management & Coordination
- Organize, maintain, and manage project drawing sets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate architectural documentation with consultants, engineers, contractors, and internal project teams.
- Conduct drawing reviews and quality control checks to ensure consistency and completeness.
- Assist in resolving coordination conflicts and technical issues during design and construction phases.
Construction Support
- Support permit submissions and respond to jurisdictional review comments as needed.
- Assist with construction administration activities, including reviewing RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Provide technical clarification and documentation support during construction.
- Help ensure project documentation aligns with construction requirements and field conditions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field.
- Proven experience in architectural design development, technical production, and construction documentation.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating architectural detailing and technical drawing capabilities.
- Experience producing permit and construction drawing sets.
- Comprehensive understanding of building systems, materials, construction methods, and constructability principles.
- Strong knowledge of architectural drafting standards and documentation best practices.
- Experience coordinating drawings with multidisciplinary consultants.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple project tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
